TOPIC: The Torn-Up Credit Card Application...
Do you receive credit card invitations in the mail? So do I. Well, an enterprising guy named Rob received an application from Chase... and wrote:

"I get a heck of a lot of credit card applications in the mail. A bunch for Visa, quite a few from Mastercard and tons of them from American Express. I almost always tear them in half and throw them away. Sometimes, if I am feeling particularly paranoid, I'll tear them into little bitty pieces.
Is that good enough? Could a determined and dexterous criminal gather all the bits, tape them together and apply for a card in my name? Would a credit card company balk when confronted with an obviously resurrected application?"

Very enlightening website! I have one thing to add -- that goes a step further towards protection...
I remove the personally identifiable information (pre-printed) from the application. That part is shredded, then the remainder of the application is thrown away in the rubbish cab. I toss out the shredded material once every two to three months. The regular trash is hauled to the dump weekly. There is virtually no way anyone could piece together a credit card application from the mail when handled this way.

TOPIC: "They have their man," News reports say of Darryl Littlejohn...

~ Update: 3:45pm ~

FoxNews is reporting that law enforcement officers are NOT going to charge Darryl Littlejohn with Imette St. Guillen's murder -- for the time being. They are trying to tie him to other criminal activity. They have him on parole/probation violation charges, so as I wrote yesterday -- police and the FBI have time to work on evidence for the rape/murder charges. A Boston Herald article from earlier today states,

"Yesterday a Japanese woman picked Littlejohn from a photo array as the man who, posing as a federal agent, kidnapped her in Queens, raped her, wiped her body with disinfectant swabs and dropped her off late last year, sources told the Herald. Sources say similar disinfectant swabs were seized from Littlejohn’s Queens lair.
Although he is being held on parole violations, NYPD detectives plan to charge Littlejohn today with the rape of the Japanese woman. They also hope to charge him with the rape of a 19-year old woman who was handcuffed and thrown into the back of a blue van near the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens at about 4:30 a.m. Oct. 29.
"The victim (of the second rape) states that she was approached by a (man) dressed in a blue uniform who demanded identification,” according to an NYPD incident report. “The suspect then handcuffed the victim and put her into the back of a two-tone blue van.” Long Island cops meanwhile are eyeing him in connection with the November rape of an Elmont woman, said Detective Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County police.

~ Update: 12:30pm ~

As I type, NYC police are transferring Darryl Littlejohn to another precinct in order to place him in a line-up. He is being closely investigated in at least three New York metro area rape cases. [You can read more about the details in yesterday's post.]
In the meantime, news reports are surfacing that state forensics experts are saying carpet fibers from Littlejohn's flat in Queens match fibers found on Imette St. Guillen's face (under the tape). This means that the probability is quite high that Imette St. Guillen was physically in Littlejohn's home. In the defense's favor, the fibers could have been transferred from the home on Littlejohn's clothes, then onto St. Guillen when he escorted her from the bar. IMO, this is highly unlikely, but I'm sure such an argument will be made by Littlejohn's attorney.
Police have not yet charged Darryl Littlejohn with Imette St. Guillen's rape and murder primarily because they don't have much more than a lot of circumstantial evidence. They do believe the tan/gray Ford Windstar van is the "dumping vehicle" -- but tests have not yet matched DNA or other evidence. Law enforcement officials are waiting for additional DNA test results to be returned from forensics labs before proceeding with the case.
Even if he is not indicted for St. Guillen's murder, it looks like Darryl Littlejohn will be incarcerated for some sort of crime -- parole violation (curfew, weapons, etc); impersonating a law enforcement officer; sexual assault/rape -- something. His days of being free to roam the streets of New York are likely over. If he is really the lowlife he is made out to be, I am personally very glad he ended up being investigated.


Romans 8:28 tells us that "ALL things work to the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose." I don't know Imette's beliefs, but I do know that many people have been praying for the family, for the city and for the police to catch the scumbag who killed Imette. The good of this can be that some people re-examine how they live their lives; their decisions and their habits. Good could also come from getting a really bad guy off the streets forever. The inner workings of some businesses' shady dealings could be exposed. So many good things *could* come from this. I know that at least part of "the good" will come to fruition. Imette's earthly life was not lost in vain. Thank God for that fact.

TOPIC: Ongoing investigation into St. Guillen murder...

Veronika Belenkaya, a NY Daily News Staff Writer, tells of her now chilling conversations with Darryl Littlejohn -- in person at The Falls bar and on her personal cell phone. "You seemed like a real nice lady," he told her. The attractive, petite blond, Belenkaya was also interviewed on FoxNews Channel this afternoon. It gave me chills to ponder how close she may have come to being a victim, too.

~ Update: 1:30pm ~

The Boston Herald has also been unbelievably forthcoming in its investigation and reporting of the St. Guillen murder. Various reporters have been in constant contact with law enforcement officials. Today's report says [paraphrased],

“'There is a serial rapist posing as a federal agent, grabbing women, who has struck at least three times' in the New York City area, an official source said yesterday. Littlejohn has been known to impersonate law enforcement. He has a van. 'We are taking a very close look at those cases,' the source said. Several of Littlejohn’s Queens neighbors described the ex-con as a strange man who was often spotted wearing black jackets with the word 'Marshal emblazoned on the back. He was also seen sporting a badge around his neck.

In the three attacks, the rapist identified himself as an immigration officer before pulling the women into the van and throwing a blanket over their heads so they could not identify him, the sources said. He then drove to an underground garage, where the women were raped and sexually assaulted. Two of the three unsolved rapes that preceded St. Guillen’s assault and murder occurred around Forest Hills, Queens. Another took place in Long Island. All took place between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.

No DNA evidence was recovered from the three attacks. The victims told investigators their attacker wiped them down after the rape with some sort of disinfectant swabs, the police sources said. Investigators who searched Littlejohn’s residence in Queens from Monday evening into yesterday morning recovered alcohol swabs and plastic ties in his home, the sources said.

The NYPD has also recovered a resume that Littlejohn gave to The Falls that stated he worked for a 'federal fugitive recovery team' as a federal marshal, sources said. Co-workers at The Falls said Littlejohn came to work several times wearing a gun and bulletproof vest, in violation of his parole.

Littlejohn said he let friends use the van in New Jersey but did not recall who those friends were or where they lived, sources said." Emphasis was added by me.

Isn't it interesting, the more we learn about Darryl Littlejohn, the less he sounds like a guy who was trying to get himself together and "relax and take care of his children". He sounds more and more like a psycho who has a major fixation with authority, control/power and how he could use that control over people (specifically women). Posing as a law enforcement officer; wearing police garb; sporting a handgun... all signs of a fixation with law enforcement and/or power.

Murray Weiss of The New York Post has done an excellent job of covering this case. His lastest article states what I told Sope-Bocks readers earlier today,

"The cops' focus on Darryl Littlejohn in the brutal sex attacks surfaced after one shaken victim watched the past day's TV footage of investigators searching the bouncer's blue minivan parked in his driveway - and phoned police to tell them it appeared to be the vehicle in which she was raped, sources said.The woman was attacked in Queens late last year, part of an apparent pattern of at least three rapes in which the victims all gave similar descriptions of their attacker. A second rape also occurred in Queens, and the third took place in Nassau County, the sources said.
Investigators yesterday continued combing the hardened criminal's Queens home for clues as they try to build a case against him. Their latest haul included bags marked with blaring orange 'Biohazard' stickers and stuffed with such items as military green pants, a black wool hat and Timberland boots. They also towed away the minivan in Littlejohn's driveway - a dark-blue Dodge Ram 250.
In addition to that van, probers focused on his Ford Windstar, parked two blocks from the house, which matches a description of a vehicle spotted near where St. Guillen's body was dumped. The van was missing a row of seats, and cops yesterday removed a similar row of seats from Littlejohn's house."

WABC 7 adds, "According to published reports, police are now also looking at Littlejohn as a possible suspect in a series of rapes in Queens and Long Island. All three women say their attacker posed as a federal agent. Although Littlejohn was placed in a lineup he was not picked out."

This case is getting deeper and deeper. And although I'm glad to help in solving the case, I HATE it that some of my conjecture and suggestions have been correct -- because that means there is much more to find before they solve all of the crimes this perp has commited. I suspect the police and FBI will soon connect Littlejohn to at least a couple more unsolved rape/murder cases within the New York metro area.

Folks, I'm trying to keep "my game face on" and continue to work on clues, connections and reporting information to the blogosphere. However, inside I'm ANGRY! Why? Primarily because Imette St. Guillen's life could have been spared IF the management and employees of The Falls had been just a little bit diligent in looking out for their patrons. As the NY Daily News puts it, "Police sources said the investigation had been hobbled by the selfish actions of Manhattan barkeep Daniel Dorrian - whose brother Michael owns The Falls, a Lafayette St. pub where St. Guillen was last seen alive. 'He's a man with no conscience whatsoever,' a police source said of Dorrian. Dorrian first told cops St. Guillen left the pub alone around its 4 a.m. closing time. He changed his story over last weekend, telling cops he had ordered Littlejohn to escort a drunken St. Guillen out of the bar, sources said. Dorrian and other employees also finally told cops they heard St. Guillen and Littlejohn arguing after the two left the bar through a secret side exit. 'They heard yelling. More angry yelling, not fear,' a source said. 'No one called out for help or said they were being attacked.'
Think about it -- Imette could have been saved (whether Littlejohn is her killer or not) by someone taking a look outside when they heard the scream right after she left the bar. Just a little bit of responsibility for their fellow human being could have saved this poor, young girl from rape, torture and a horrific death (not to mention all her family/friends have been through). Thankfully, I am not God, nor do I make the decisions of ultimate justice. If I was, Danny and Michael Dorrian would be in a "world of hurt" right now.
OK, back to my "game face"... enough soapbox shouting...

~ Initial post: 9:15am ~

I have learned this morning that police are not only looking for clues that connect Darryl Littlejohn to Imette St. Guillen's murder, but also to other unsolved sexual crimes in the Manhattan/Queens areas. That move makes sense -- as many criminal profilers have said that the torture, rape and murder of St. Guillen is likely NOT the perp's first crime of this nature.

Not tooting my own horn, but the national news has now picked up on the Littlejohn alias to comic book connection I first mentioned on this blog a couple of days ago (then subsequently removed -- only to bring it back yesterday). I wonder if comic book efficionados can help us investigate whether or not there is really anything to be gleaned from the character names and the "personalities" of Darryl Littlejohn. I still believe police should look into the alias connection with porno movies -- as discovered by Steve Huff and shadowraiths.

~ Update: 9:30pm ~

I am researching in an attempt to locate video evidence of Imette's St. Guillen's attacker -- using webcams, traffic cams and security cameras around Manhattan, Queens, the Belt Parkway and Brooklyn. Since I am not a New Yorker, and know little about the city, I have questions that readers may be able to assist with.

1) Are there traffic cams with archives at ANY of the following intersections?

3) Does the Aqueduct Racetrack have cameras trained on the Belt Parkway West? If so, were they active this past Saturday afternoon during the horse races? If so, can one clearly see the Belt from these cams?

TOPIC: Does an ex-con hold the missing pieces to the "Mummy Maniac" puzzle?

~ Update: 9:15pm ~

The police and FBI have time on their side now. Darryl Littlejohn, the prime suspect in the rape and torture death of Imette St. Guillen is sitting in a Rikers Island prison cell. Law enforcement officials have an open invitation to search his employer's business site, his home -- and by now -- his personal vehicle (found 2-3 blocks from his home). He could sit in jail, at their disposal, for up to 90 days before being given a parole hearing regarding his curfew violation (which he admitted to). Police also have a license tag associated with the tan Ford Windstar van (which supposedly belongs to Littlejohn or his mother). There could be additional DMV charges pending. Yep, law enforcement can sit back and let Littlejohn (aka Jonathan Blaze) sweat a bit.
My bet is they have several other "smaller" pieces of evidence, but nothing that says 100% Darryl Littlejohn and Imette St. Guillen were in the same place, at the same time (other than The Falls bar where he worked). Police removed the back seat of his van from the home earlier today. Tests will be run on everything they find on/in that seat.


[ASIDE: I was appalled at the careless way police were loading the minivan's rear bench seat into the patrol cruiser. It could be contaminated with other fibers, etc. ~or~ vital evidence could blow or shake off of the seat as it being hauled down the highway in the trunk of the cruiser. Careless -- and that will cost the police once Littlejohn's defense attorney gets a hold of the news footage. I sincerely hope the key evidence doesn't come from that seat. DNA test results are imminent. If the skin fragments we have heard were under Imette's broken fingernails match Littlejohn's DNA, he will definitely be indicted for kidnapping, rape and murder. I'm also guessing his attorney is working on a potential plea bargain deal in the background. Only time will tell what comes of this case... but, then again, time is on the side of law enforcement right now.

Regarding Darryl Littlejohn (shown above in a 2003 mugshot using alias Jonathan Blaze), ABCNews is reporting,

"Police said that while several pieces of evidence pointed to Littlejohn, they did not, as of this afternoon, have enough pieces in place to ask the district attorney to charge him with the crime. This has been a frustration to detectives for several days now. Police placed him under surveillance for two days before bringing him in and holding him for questioning. During that time they obtained a DNA sample from an item he left behind while out in public, police sources said.
So late Monday evening, the New York State Department of Parole was notified and early this morning the 41-year-old ex-con was removed from the police station and taken back to jail on a parole violation — his second in a long, violent record of criminal convictions that date back to when he was eighteen."

My theory:
It was closing time -- around 4:00am. Imette got a little upset because she was being asked to leave The Falls, but wasn't able to finish her last drink. She was a bit intoxicated and possibly got a little loud with a waitress. The manager told the bouncer to get her out because the bar was closing. She protested as the bouncer escorted her out the door and someone closed the gate behind them. Since they had been chatting earlier in the evening, she quickly calmed down. He got into his vehicle and they chatted a bit, with her standing on the sidewalk. He offered her a ride home as there may not have been any cabs around. She was at ease, so she agreed -- and that decision sealed her fate.
Littlejohn, a parolee, may have made advances. St. Guillen may have been willing -or- she may have protested. He took her to his home in Queens. Whether she was willing or not, his rage ensued for some reason. Early on, he chopped off her hair as she fought back - scratching and scraping. But, he was going to be in control. He beat her in the face and chest -- and choked her, but not to the point of death. He raped and sodomized her -- all the while growing more and more angry. All those women in his life who had rejected him... His mother... All of that time spent in jail without the company of a female companion... VENGEFUL RAGE! Imette was still trying to scream and struggle, so he shoved a sock down her throat and taped her face up. At some point during the assault, she suffocated and died.
When the reality of what he had done started to set in, he knew he would spend the rest of his life in jail, if caught. So, he planned a strategy -- and mutilated her genitalia in an attempt to destroy "evidence". He used objects to rape and sodomize her bruised, lifeless body. Then, he wrapped her up in a blanket and drove to "the killing fields" of Brooklyn to dump her body. Either someone saw him-or- he had an accomplice. One or the other made the call to police from the Lindenwood Diner at 8:23pm.

BTW, other websites are now picking up on my report of the comic book names... and starting to include it in their coverage. Maybe I'm not crazy after all.

A detective told a FoxNews correspondent that police are "80% certain" that have Imette's killer in custody -- and that man is Darryl Littlejohn. Law enforcement officials told FoxNews they would have already charged Littlejohn if he had the scratches they would expect to find on the killer. This leads me to wonder if Littlejohn had an accomplice OR, if possibly they have the wrong guy (however far-fetched that idea might be). I am more and more convinced that Littlejohn is the killer -- and that someone close to him knows about it.

You might think I'm crazy, but I've been googling the aliases (for three days now) that Darryl Littlejohn has used over the years. It seems that Darryl Banks, Johnny Blaze and John Handsome all have connections to comic books. Have I lost my mind?!?
Another alias name, Derek Hansen, was a short story writer. The only reference I've found that makes sense for Damon Wells was a psycho killer who murdered a young brown-haired woman in Santa Clara, CA. in 1984.

~ Update: 2:20pm ~

Investigators looking for forensic evidence in the slaying of Imette St. Guillen scoured the basement flat of parolee Darryl Littlejohn - taking away the rear seat from his personal van. So,why is Littlejohn the focus of the rape and murder investigation? According to Tom Hays of the AP, "...the bar's owner [actually co-owner, John Kekalos of The Falls bar] and his lawyer came forward late last week saying he had ordered the bouncer, a 41-year-old parolee with an extensive criminal record, to toss her [Imette St. Guillen] out when she complained she wasn't being allowed to finish a drink, the official said. The owner said he later overheard 'some sort of arguing and a commotion' as the bouncer took her outside, the official said."3 Another version of the story is that the bouncer escorted the young patron out the side door (through a hallway). Employees heard and argument in the hallway, then a muffled scream.
The bouncer admitted he was talking to St. Guillen, and that he escorted her from the bar. Littlejohn told police Imette told him she was going to be an FBI agent. He reportedly told her that he had been a US Marshal. However, he says he left her on the street and never saw her again.
Darryl Littlejohn showed up for work the next evening -- with a visible scratch on his neck. To my knowledge, he has not given any plausible explanation for the scratch. Three days after her body was found, Littlejohn popped up at work again - this time on his day off - and was intently inquiring about the missing woman, the sources said.4 As a matter of record, Littlejohn's cell phone was recorded by his carrier as being around his home at 5:00pm the day St. Guillen was reported missing. The phone was also recorded as being within a mile of the dumping point around 6:00pm (initially incorrectly reported as 6:00AM). Remember, police were alerted to the presence of St. Guillen's body at 8:23pm that same night.
The search warrant executed on Littlejohn's home yesterday didn't include the van - sans license plates - parked in his Jamaica driveway. "He is a suspect," a detective close to the case said early this morning. "He is our only suspect."2

A NYC blogger, who used to work as an administrative assistant for a New York night club, writes, "I guess I could see how a small bar might not spend the time and resources to do background checks on employees. But The Falls is not a small 'one-off' bar; rather it's part of a chain-of-sorts that includes Dorrian's, Barna and The Falls. To me, this gives The Falls' owners little excuse for not checking out their employees pre-hiring." I have to agree. In the end, Michael "Jack" Dorrian and company will bear some liability in this matter -- whether or not Darryl Littlejohn is the murderer.

~ Update: 11:15am ~

FoxNews is reporting that The Falls co-owner & head chef, Danny Dorrian has changed his story. He originally told police Imette took a piece of paper from her purse, looked at it and then left the bar around 4:00am. Now, he says Imette St. Guillen and Darryl Littlejohn actually argued as she was escorted from The Falls by Littlejohn. Employees are now saying that the manager/owner told Littlejohn to "get her out of the building" because St. Guillen was "so drunk". FoxNews also says the owner (not known if the person is Michael Dorrian or John Kekalos) now states employees heard a muffled scream right after the bar closed the night Imette St. Guillen disappeared. The employees didn't pay much attention to the scream, according to statements attributed to "the owner". [The NY Post is credited with breaking this portion of the story.]

Forty-one year old (born 11/11/64), 5'7" Darryl Littlejohn has a 25-year criminal record, including prior felonies. He was denied parole in 2004 -- with the NY State Parole Board saying he was "a menace to society". However, parole was somehow granted two months later. I have not been able to ascertain how long Littlejohn has been employed by The Falls pub. Incidentally, Littlejohn is currently being held on a parole violation -- his curfew is 9:00pm, but he worked at The Falls until 4:00am each night.
WHAT is going on with this bar and the people who work there? Personally, I don't put much trust in any statements coming from Michael Dorrian, Danny Dorrian, John Kekalos or their employees. They have lied to police more than once already. Unfortunately, this fact could cloud the issue and hinder law enforcement efforts to solve this bizarre murder.

A Falls waitress told Clint Van Zandt of MSNBC (who walked Imette's last steps) that last call comes shortly after 3:30 a.m., “and at 4 a.m. we throw everyone out.” Dr. Van Zandt asks other good questions:

"Why would her [Imette's] murderer intentionally dispose of clothing and personal items, seemingly to frustrate efforts to identify her body, yet leave her by the side of a road and under the only street light? Only a few feet beyond where she was found was a slight but weeded incline, leading to an estuary below, and nearby, was tall grass. This would have been an obvious way to conceal her body... Police are still attempting to identify the anonymous caller who somehow had a reason to go down this lonely road and see a bedspread rolled up, lying alongside the road. Was the caller Imette’s killer, and if so, why did he want her body to be found?" 1

~ Update: 9:15am ~

CBS2 (KUTV) reports this morning, "An ex-con who works as a bouncer in New York City may hold key clues to the murder mystery surrounding the death of a graduate student. Police have been holding him now for more than a day but have not made an arrest.
This morning police are still questioning the bouncer who worked a SoHo bar where student Imette St. Guillen was last seen alive. Investigators are calling him a 'a person of interest' and he has not been charged.
Investigators spent at least six hours at the home where the bar employee lives with search warrants for the first floor, the basement and the driveway. ... Crime scene investigators seemed to pay particular attention to the driveway of the man's home. They were looking for different types of samples, blood and hair, and different types of things that they listed on there. There were a number of items on there - like 12 or 13 items." I've also learned that the back seat of Darryl Littlejohn's tan Ford minivan has been removed by forensics investigators. Police sources were careful to say that they are "covering the bases" right now -- and that the van is not necessarily the place where any crime took place.
Eyewitness News Reporter Nina Pineda (WABC 7) adds, "... police sources tell us he [Littlejohn] clammed up after so much questioning. And sources say he has hired a lawyer and the FBI is here [75th Precinct]. "

NOTE: It is VERY important to note that Darryl Littlejohn has NOT been charged in the death of Imette St. Guillen. The news media, the Sope-Bocks blog (along with many others) are speculating and discussing theories. The man is innocent until he (or someone else) confesses or is proven guilty. Let's not have a media trial and conviction. We do not yet know who raped and murdered Imette. All we know is what police sources are telling us -- and what conclusions we can draw from that information.

WABC reports Maureen Saint Guillen, Victim's Mother: "I think the New York Police Department are doing a terriffic job. The comfort comes really from the support I've been receiving from people everywhere. I was amazed by the outpouring of love and caring that people have shown me and I think that right now I'm in a state of shock. Plus I have to tell you that I've kept it totally separate. I haven't read any papers, I haven't watched any news reports. I don't know all details of it and that's the only way I'm functioning right now."

The NY Times is now reporting "According to a law enforcement official, who requested anonymity because the investigation is continuing, a witness has said that the bouncer, identified by his aunt as Darryl Littlejohn, had been asked to show Ms. St. Guillen out of the bar about 4 that morning because it was closing."
We've also been told Ms. Guillen was noticably drunk; and that Littlejohn was asked by management to take her outside.

TOPIC: St. Guillen investigation takes a turn towards a "potential suspect"
The focus of the Imette Carmella Saint-Guillen rape/murder case is starting to move towards a bartendar from The Falls bar. The Jamaica, Queens home Darryl Littlejohn is apparently about to be searched by authorities. Earlier today, the police kept sanitation department workers from removing trash outside of Littlejohn's home.

This is going to be a rare Sope-Bocks multi-post day, so stay tuned...

CBS4 in Boston says, "sources tell our sister station, WCBS in New York, that St. Guillen's killer wore gloves and a condom. There were no fingerprints on the tape and very little bodily fluid." Even so, the crime lab is hoping to make a DNA match. They have skin from beneath Imette's broken fingernails AND some other bodily fluid (although most sources say the police didn't find any semen in or on the body). We'll know for sure early next week.

218 Lafayette Street, New York City, NY 10012 - What's located in the "crime scene" building?
The Fire Island Wildlife Foundation, Inc. (FIWF) is located on the 2nd floor of 218 Lafayette -- which has reportedly been designated by some sources as "the crime scene". Other say the basement is the actual crime scene. FIWF is owned by John A. Zaccaro, Jr., whose family owns the entire building.
WhatGoesAround.org (WGA) is another business located on the 2nd floor of the building. WGA is a "not-for-profit organization that is harnessing the power of the Internet to change giving in America." Donna Zaccaro is the president at this non-profit.
P. Zaccaro Real Estate is also located in the same building, though there is no indication of which floor.
The building has also been used for Geraldine Ferraro's former Senate campaigns.
Cap-Sud, Inc., a patio furniture seller, was also located at 218 Lafayette St. From online searches, it looks like Cap-Sud may have moved out of the building.
** It should be noted that the Zaccaros are cooperating with law enforcement in allowing open access to the building. I DO NOT THINK THE ZACCARO FAMILY HAD *ANYTHING* TO DO WITH THIS CRIME. I am NOT dropping names in order to draw hits to this blog. The information above was provided simply because people are asking what businesses are located at what police are calling "the crime scene".

Several crime blog readers are speculating on a statement made to the media by an unnamed bouncer at The Falls. Here's my take on the following statement (NY Daily News article): "'She just walked out of the bar, stood in front and then we went back inside,' the bouncer said."

Any bouncer worth his pay wouldn't allow a patron to leave without paying. It's clear that St. Guillen had not paid for her drinks when she left the bar to answer her cell phone. The bouncer (Littlejohn or whomever) would likely have followed her outside to see if she was going to take off without paying her tab. When she finished her call, they both went back inside.

I am definitely NOT taking up for the bouncer -- be that person Darryl Littlejohn or the other guy (who was strip searched). I believe Steve Huff is right on the money when he made the connection between the location, pornography, Littlejohn and his apparent aliases. A person involved in extreme porno could be capable of such a crime -- as an extention of his on-screen sado-masochistic fantasies.

Another oddity, that makes my skin crawl...
Jack Dorrian, owner of The Falls, lost his liquor license after the Robert Chambers "Preppie Killer" case. Dorrian claimed (at the time) the lose of his license was in relation to him fronting Robert Chambers bail money.
IOW, the owner of the bar that served liquor to Chambers in excess of legal limits, just before he murdered Jennifer Levin, bails the guy out of jail on a murder rap?!? Do you think this is also the kind of person who would hire a career criminal as a bouncer? Hmmm...

~ Update: 7:45pm ET ~

The New York Post is reporting, "She [Imette St. Guillen] drank more there [The Falls], and soon appeared so inebriated that the owner asked the bouncer to have her leave, sources said. Previously, witnesses, including workers at The Falls had told cops that she left alone, the sources said. But a lawyer for the owner of the bar [Jack Dorrian] called detectives over the weekend and told them he had other information, the sources said. After questioning, police learned that the bouncer left with the young woman and never returned, they said.

One huge question looming over Imette's actions is: WHY did she leave The Pioneer Bar and travel five blocks (past at least three other pubs) to arrive at The Falls just twenty minutes before closing time? Is the piece of paper she supposedly looked at important? Was it contact information for a hook-up? After all, The Falls is listed on the web as a public MatchMakers location used by RetroMatch, a local dating agency.

I am now convinced that Steve Huff is on to the idea that WILL solve this case. FWIW, Darryl Littlejohn is African-American, which matches ethnic information Mr. Huff mentions below. I have paraphrased his 3:31am ET post from this morning below:

"... when one considers that John Zaccaro’s [Geraldine Ferraro's husband] dealings in the 80’s with producers of pornography (Zaccaro owned property from which he and his wife, Geraldine Ferraro, profited, that was rented or leased by a porn production company.) Two of Darryl Littlejohn’s known aliases—Jonathan Blaze and John Handsome.
A 'Johnny Handsome' is listed as a director for a hardcore porno film titled, 'Harlem Hos.' ... Johnny Blaze (interesting variation on that name also found—Jonny Blaze), appears to also be the name of an african-american bisexual porn actor. Many of the movies advertised online featuring Blaze are New York themed. ... The combination of these porn movies advertising themselves as being New York-based, made in New York, and the appellations used by Littlejohn—both 'John Handsome' and 'Jonathan Blaze' were the most recent aliases listed on Littlejohn’s Department of Corrections records—has to make one wonder. Add in the factor of 218 Lafayette being an address tied in the past to mob-run properties that housed porn operations, and all this is pretty hard to ignore. ...
The connections between porn with primarily african-american casts made in New York, Jon(ny) Blaze and John(ny) Handsome, and Darryl Littlejohn, I have to say, are much more disturbing and striking [than finding a convicted sex offender's name as someone cited for dumping a vehicle on Fountain Ave]. At the least, it might just be more evidence of a hidden sexual self—a proclivity for hardcore porn as a consumer—that wasn’t reflected in Littlejohn’s criminal record in the past."

Darryl Littlejohn's neighbors describe him as a "quiet, muscular man". Police describe him as "a hard guy" who is menacing and "heavily tatooed". In addition to the aliases above, Littlejohn has also been known as Damon Wells and Darryl Banks.

Is there anything to the alias names used by Darryl Littlejohn? Two theories are offered above. I have also located the name Damon Wells -- a psycho-satanist convicted in a Santa Clara County, CA. murder case. If Darryl Littlejohn put any thought into his aliases, why did he pick the names Damon Wells, Darryl Banks, Johnny Blaze and John Handsome? What, if anything, do these names mean to him?

ABC13.com says of Darryl Littlejohn,

"The bouncer, sources said, works at The Falls bar in New York's Soho neighborhood, and police say he has a criminal record and has been uncooperative with authorities. Witnesses have told police they last saw the bouncer -- who has been convicted of five different crimes ranging from armed robbery to drug possession but nothing sexual in nature -- with St. Guillen. Police say cell phone records have placed him at The Falls at the time St. Guillen disappeared and around East New York -- where her body was found -- two hours later. In addition to the bouncer, police are interested in at least one other employee of The Falls, the New York Daily News reported."

FoxNews is confirming earlier reports that Darryl Littlejohn's Rochsdale Village, Queens home is under investigation. The Falls' bouncer was reportedly picked up for questioning last night. He is still in police custody -- supposedly at the 75th Precinct. His aunt, Addie Harris, has also been interviewed by the media. She defended Littlejohn, "I don't believe this, they have to give me some kind of evidence," Harris said. "He's already been condemned in the media. I'm hoping [the police] will go out there and do their job."

A note that I want to quote from the Crime Scene Blog gives more insight into the killer -- WHOEVER he is...

"It has not been released if the sexual assault occurred anti-mortem or post-mortem but that too indicates the type of mindset of the perpetrator. Men who are interested in the control aspect of the rape tend to perform the assault before death. Those men whose self esteem is so low that even a weakened and tied up victim is not submissive enough tend to sexually assault the body after they have killed. This also is when the fantasy realization, which drives the crime, is at its zenith."

I wonder if police are investigating Littlejohn's past. The killer is most likely someone who has a great hatred for women. Littlejohn has prior convictions, but does he have a history of acts against women? One major item is a physical search of Littlejohn -- Does he have scratches on his face, neck or body? Imette's fingernails are said to have some skin embedded underneath them. ASIDE: Littlejohn called a Daily News reporter yesterday morning to say he had nothing to do with the horrible crime. He accused cops of harassing him.

In addition to Littlejohn, who has a history of robbery and drug raps, cops have shown intense interest in at least one other man who works at the bar, sources said. Cops asked that man to disrobe for them, to prove he had no scratches on him. He did so and had no marks, the sources added.

Police are currently running DNA tests to try and find a match with the killer who dumped Ms. St. Gullien in New York's Bell Parkway "Killing Fields". In a recent interview on the Nancy Grace show, Dr. Larry Kobilinsky, forensic scientist at John Jay College said, "Most of the time, this kind of evidence under the fingernails, the scraping, does not turn out very good information on the perpetrator. However, the medical examiner`s office in New York City is doing some very, very sophisticated work with low copy number DNA. And, therefore, they very well may be successful." We certainly hope so!

TOPIC: Imette's body taken away in a tan van?
New York homicide investigators have impounded a tan minivan believed to be part of the Imette St. Guillen murder case. Police started looking for the van yesterday (at least that's when it became public knowledge). Either overnight or this morning, police located the minivan outside an east New York garage located at the corner of Jerome and New Lots Avenue. It has been moved to a police impound yard -- to be searched in the ongoing investigation into Imette St. Guillen's rape and murder. The Crime Scene Blog has much more, including a picture of the late model tan Ford Windstar van in question.

Questions to ponder -- Imette travelled five blocks from The Pioneer Bar to The Falls. Did she encounter someone along the way and them brush them off? Did that person lay in wait for her outside The Falls? The fake cabbie theory could be correct. However, it's hard to believe Imette would have been acosted by a cabbie outside of the car. That would look odd to anyone who was around the bar -- thereby causing suspicion. *IF* the building that houses The Falls bar *is* the crime scene, then the murderer is someone who had access to that building. The police have not said there was any forceable entry to the building, so it makes sense that the killer was able to get into and out of the building without force.

One other theory to consider -- the employees of The Falls pub. Are they involved? Remember, they are the only witnesses saying that Imette St. Guillen left the bar around 4:00am. Did one or more of them convince her to remain behind after the bar was closed to the public? Was she feeling whoosy and one of them offered her an opportunity to lie down and rest -- upstairs in the building? Was she attracted to one of the bartendar's who offered her a place they could quietly spend time once the bar closed? We do not yet know the answers to these questions. However, they definitely need to be asked -- and answered.

My bet is that Imette never left The Falls bar, as previously reported. My guess is that she was enticed into waiting for an employee to give her a ride... or taken advantage of by a "cool" bartendar promising her "after hours" partying. I'm sticking with my previous profile of the killer. We'll know more tomorrow...

TOPIC: Imette may have been murdered just steps from The Falls...
Imette St. Guillen may have been snatched just as she walked out of The Falls bar onto Lafayette Street last weekend. Investigators are now calling the building that houses the Dorrian-family owned pub "the crime scene". According to some folks, this is a very odd twist in what is already a bizarre case of rape, torture and murder. But I have to ask -- why wasn't this the primary place to investigate in beginning? After all, there are several security cams in the immediate area. NONE of them show Imette St. Guillen after she walked outside The Falls bar. She was wearing a gray coat and white hooded sweater, and that was the last anybody (that we know of) saw of her. It's eerie, but it's kinda like she just disappeared.

Another question -- Should the police look at connections between Imette's killer and the so-called "Preppie Killer"? Or is merely a coincidence that the same people (Dorrian) own the New York bars outside of which two young women have been abducted, raped and murdered? Also, should the police reopen the Sarah Fox murder case? Is there a chance that this is the same serial killer who raped, killed and then arranged flowers around the body of Julliard student Sarah Fox? I'm not sure, but I think ALL avenues of investigation should remain open at this point.

A real development in tracking down the killer(s) is unfolding tonight. It has been announced that police are looking for a tan or light brown van that may have been seen in the area of the dumping grounds where Ms. Guillen body was found. Personally, I think the van was also seen at the Lindenwood Diner or on video the night of Imette's abduction. BUT, for some reason, police are letting those portions be publicly known as yet. [Just my guess.]

We'll know more tomorrow as police are venturing into the building (specifically the basement) of "The Falls" building, which is owned by Geraldine Ferraro's husband. It has been rumored that clothes were found there -- specifically a clear bag with a white garment was removed by police. However, that has not been confirmed as of the time my blog notes were written.

TOPIC: Profile of Serial Killer?
Are the police looking at the possibility of a serial killer in the death of Imette St. Guillen? You bet they are. In fact, it seems that this is the emerging theory of what happened to the attractive forensic psychology student. On Wednesday, the NY Daily News & Mich.News named him [them] the "Mummy Maniac". [The name is starting to stick.]
"What we've got here is a sexually sadistic pathological serial killer," criminal profiler Pat Brown tells The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "And he is the scariest of them all, the Hollywood type that we see in the movies and don't really think is going to strike in our neighborhood. But he's out there," Brown says. "My guess is he's been out there before and he's escalating in his crimes, which makes him more dangerous," Brown tells Chen. When asked if he would strike again, Brown said, "Absolutely. And the question is when."1
"This amount of violence and drama on the part of the killer tells me he's killed before. This is pretty much a murderer who's trying to create a warped identity," said Sidney Francis, a former NYPD homicide detective who's taught at the NYC police academy. Det. Francis believes the killer may be reveling in all the media attention to the case.

My take on the "profile" of who killed Ms. St. Guillen:
- Male
- 25~40 years old
- Caucasian, Hispanic or Arabic
- Not highly educated, but quite smart
- Most likely lives alone
- Not very social, but amiable enough to get along in society
- Fairly physically strong
- Has some pocket money; Not destitute
- Knows the Brooklyn area well
- Addicted to violent pornography
- Works in the service / delivery industry close to or in The Bowery/Brooklyn
- Specifically, I believe the killer is most likely a moving company employee, a construction contractor or linens delivery person for a motel
- Not his first sex crime. Quite likely not his first murder either

He took souveneirs to preserve his victim -- her chopped off hair, her wallet and her cell phone. I believe he likely disposed of Imette's clothes as none of these items have been found. His blood is likely on her clothes as it was obvious by the condition of Imette's broken fingernails that she fought her attacker(s) very hard before being overcome. Once he completed his task of rape, torture and murder, he called the police to tell them where he his trophy lie.

The 911 Call:

Operator: “Hello, 911.”
Caller: “I think there’s a body over at Fountain and Seaview.”
Operator: “How do you know? What did you see?”
Caller: “It looks like a body. You should send someone to take a look at it.”

This perp is NOT likely someone that Imette knew. I have just learned that the 911 call has been played for St. Guillen's family and close friends. The voice was not recognized by any of them.

I could be way off, but from what I've read... and the things I've seen, I suspect this is the profile of the person who brutally raped, sodomized, beat and suffocated a beautiful young lady this past Saturday. The 911 caller is definitely involved -- one way or another. Huff's Crime Blog has a very interesting post on the identity of the killer(s). Read it and then think about this...
If you know anyone in the Brooklyn or Bowery area who fits this description, you might want to think about having them interviewed by the police.

TOPIC: Imette St. Guillen's brutal murder has captured America's attention...
I realize that many people are murdered every day. Thousands more die horrible deaths, but not at the hands of another. Why then, has the rape and murder of 24 year old Imette St. Guillen so strongly grabbed my attention (and that of many others across the country)?
I'm not sure exactly why... but I have found myself reading every news story I could find -- looking for clues that might help piece together the puzzle of who killed this bright, energetic young graduate student.
Actually, a post on the Secrets From Within blog got me started on my quest of digging for clues. The post was compelling and made me wish I could do something, anything, to help the authorities find the sick, pervert who brutalized St. Guillen -- both before and after she died.

Some say it’s holding on that makes you strong.
Sometimes, it’s letting go. - Imette St. Guillen

Here's what I've found so far...
Imette St. Guillen had just returned home from a family vacation in Florida before her death. She flew back to New York Friday morning. She arrived at her uptown apartment shortly before noon and immediately got together with Claire, according to a police source. Around 10:00pm Friday night, Imette St. Guillen and her roommate Claire Higgins went to The Bowery district of New York City for drinks. They partied in the Pioneer Bar at 218 Bowery until around 3:15am. Apparently most of their friends had left earlier in the night, but Ms. Higgins and Ms. St. Guillen remained. Around 3:20am, Higgins decided to call it a night. However, Imette St. Guillen wanted to stay. The two argued a couple of minutes outside the Pioneer Bar, then Claire Higgins caught a cab back to their basement apartment on West End Avenue. Apparently, Imette went back inside, paid for her drinks and left the Pioneer. She travelled five blocks over to The Falls, another area bar. Ironically, The Falls is owned by the Dorrian family, the same group that owns the upper East Side spot (Dorrian's Red Hand) where "Preppie Killer" Robert Chambers met Jennifer Levin before killing her in 1986.

Imette arrived at The Falls around 3:40am. She had a rum & coke while hanging out by herself, according to a bartender who identified himself only as "Danny". At 3:50am, Claire called Imette to make sure her roommate was okay. "When are you going home?" Claire asked."Later. I'll be home later," her pal said.

Around 3:50am, Imette St. Guillen paid her tab with her credit card. St. Guillen pulled a piece of paper out of her purse, looked at it and left The Falls by herself. It's not clear what was on the paper, and St. Guillen had no other phone calls, the sources said.3 The darkened street was almost empty, and although several witnesses remember seeing the attractive, dark-haired graduate student near Spring Street, no one recalls which way she turned to walk, police sources said.2 Police believe Imette encountered her killer after she left. It's possible she may have got into what she believed was a taxi or was forced in, sources said.


A bogus cabby who sexually assaulted a woman near the site where grad-school beauty Imette St. Guillen's body was dumped *might* be the same psycho who raped and murdered the student, police sources said. Cops are poring over the details of the cab assault, in which the driver sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint on Lefferts Boulevard in the middle of last month's snowstorm about a mile from where St. Guillen's mutilated body was found.3 Her cell phone, clothes and wallet have not been found.


The proximity between where her body was dumped and the site of the sexual assault raised more than a few eyebrows among investigators. Described as a Middle Eastern man in his 30s and about 5-foot-6 — jumped into the back seat, pulled a knife and demanded oral sex. After the woman complied, he tossed her out into the snow and drove off. Although no evidence links the two incidents, police said it wouldn't be surprising if the phony hack had begun stalking women in bars.3

Police are eyeing residents of two homeless shelters, the Bowery Mission and the Salvation Army, directly across the street from the Pioneer Bar.4The NYC police are also interviewing managers of motels, including the Crossbay Motor Inn near where Saint Guillen's body was dumped, in the hopes of finding someone who recognizes the distinctive blanket wrapped around her body.5
I also learned that police are even looking into moving companies -- as the tape used to mummify St. Guillen was the same type as "packing tape" used by movers. In addition, there were no usable fingerprints on the tape -- leading police to speculate that a tape dispenser was used to wrap St. Guillen's head.

Adam Lisberg's NY Daily News article offers many more details...
"There were things done to her while she was alive and when she was dead that were unnecessary to simply commit a murder," said former New York chief medical examiner Michael Baden. "The police have a lot of stuff to work with."
1) THE TAPE: St. Guillen's entire face was covered with thick, horizontal strips of tan plastic packing tape. It was an almost ritual form of wrapping that surely plays a role in her killer's sexual fantasies, said Vernon Geberth, an expert homicide investigator and former NYPD commander. "He's not going to see her face, but he's going to see her labored breathing," he said. "He's rendering the victim completely vulnerable and helpless, then enjoying the victim's suffering."
2) THE SOCK: A man's white tube sock was found jammed into St. Guillen's throat. Her broken fingernails - some of which may be mixed with bits of her attacker's skin - are a hint that she tried to fight back, and the sock may simply have been a tool to keep her quiet. "That was not necessary to do what he did to her body," Geberth said. "That's a utility to prevent screaming."
3) THE BLANKET: St. Guillen's corpse was wrapped in a bright, floral-patterned blanket, similar to a motel-style bedspread. The killer surely left hairs or fibers on the decade-old blanket, experts said, and its origin can help pinpoint who would have obtained it. "The key to this investigation is finding out which no-tell motel that blanket came from," Geberth said. "There's trace evidence that he could not possibly have avoided leaving on there."
4) THE HAIRCUT: St. Guillen's long, brown hair had been cut short on one side by the time she was found, but whether her killer wanted her hair as a souvenir was unknown. Her body also bore other injuries that may have been inflicted intentionally, not just in the process of her abduction and murder. "When people not only kill somebody but mark up the body, either before or after death, they are expressing more than the urge to kill somebody," said forensic psychologist Marta Weber. "They are expressing rage and an urge to defile."
5) THE PHONE CALL: Cops learned about St. Guillen's murder from an anonymous 911 call from a Linden Blvd. diner (the Lindenwood Diner) pay phone several blocks away, telling cops where to find her body. Experts say the male caller could have been a witness who was doing his own nefarious business and didn't want to be identified, an accomplice who got cold feet - or a killer who wanted the world to see his deviant handiwork. "If it's the perpetrator, there's a possibility that he's taunting the police," Baden said. "He knew the area. This isn't anybody from Boston who came down to kill her. This is homegrown."

On a very eerie note...
A Brooklyn, NY trial eerily echoed Imette St. Guillen's brutal murder yesterday as detectives unveiled gruesome photos of another tortured, raped young woman - Hunter College student Ramona Moore. Like St. Guillen, whose battered body was found Saturday in East New York, Moore was raped, lacerated, killed and dumped in East Flatbush - her corpse found wrapped in a blanket tied together with shoelaces on May 10, 2003.6

Another similar case is that of the May, 2004 slaying of 20 year old Sarah Fox. Ms. Fox, who was jogging in Inwood Hill Park, was killed by what the police called a "sexual psychopath serial killer". He strangled her and posed her body and put flower petals around it in a ritualistic killing. That case is closed and the killer was never found -- although a man by the name of Dimitri Sheinman is/was the prime suspect.

Police still want to talk to the anonymous man who dialed 911 from the Lindenwood Diner, a popular stop for mayors and mafiosi alike, and told cops where to find St. Guillen's corpse.5 The area has been a popular place for dumping bodies for decades. At one end is a former landfill that holds countless Gambino mob victims. At the other is a state mental hospital with three registered sex offenders inside. A muddy creek runs alongside the tall weeds, littered with garbage, rusting car parts and broken glass - and now yellow crime-scene tape. "It's pretty desolate, especially at night," said Richard Rios, 42, who works at the closed landfill and placed a handmade cross at the scene yesterday. "That poor girl didn't deserve this." Police from the 75th Precinct have found at least four human bodies in the area over the past six years.

"Some say it’s holding on that makes you strong. Sometimes, it’s letting go", the bay-haired beauty with dancing eyes wrote in the 1999 Boston Latin School yearbook, where there was scarcely room to condense her stunning resume of accomplishments -- including National Honor Society, Talented and Gifted Hispanic Program, prom committee, swim team, indoor track, ski club, gospel choir... as well as others.7

A horrific crime occurred over the weekend. A young college student from Boston, Mass. was raped, strangled and suffocated. Investigators theorize the killer was a stranger who somehow lured his victim out of The Falls, the Lower Manhattan bar where she was last seen early Saturday morning, before pouncing at another location. But no suspects have been identified.
"There's an intensive effort under way to link any of the evidence or the victim's movements before her death to her killer," Paul Browne, the New York Police Department's top spokesman, said today. Here is what we know so far:
